Here’s what I did in a recent coaching session: I asked the client to take a deep breath, to stop her train of thoughts (which was pushing her deeper into that fear). Once she felt relaxed, I asked her to imagine herself after that event. She was pleasantly surprised by her vision: “I never thought to envision myself after”, she said, “it felt so good!”.
The fact she could imagine what’s coming up, means that there is an “after”… who vanished her present fear!
We also explored what’s good about that coming event… so she gets more positive reasons for moving forward.
Do you often consider a challenge or event as a barrier, without envisioning yourself on the other side?
How else do you handle fears?
What about the fear of … loving yourself?
Happy Valentine’s Day! 🙂
